"Summer Violets" captures the essence of one of my favourite creatures in British wildlife: the European badger. This piece is a vibrant celebration of the badger, an animal whose population is tragically under threat due to misguided and uninformed culls. With this painting, I aim to educate viewers about the plight of badgers and the critical work being done by organizations like the Badger Trust to protect them.

The painting uses bright, summery colours to symbolize hope and a positive future for the European badger. Through this artwork, I hope to change minds and raise awareness about the true causes of bovine tuberculosis (bTB), which research shows is primarily transmitted from cattle to cattle rather than from badgers to cattle. Despite this, over 230,000 badgers have been culled without evidence of a positive impact on reducing bTB in cattle.

"Summer Violets" is more than just a piece of art; it’s a statement and a call to action. A portion of the profits from the sale of this painting and it's prints will be donated to the Badger Trust, supporting their crucial work against the cull.
